CRESTOR can make your cholesterol levels even lower, by leading you to develop a condition called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). NAFLD means there is an increase in the amount of fat in the bloodstream, resulting in fatty substances. Other studies have found that taking CRESTOR may increase your risk for cardiovascular events.
Some people with NAFLD have sudden changes in vision or hearing, which can cause them to have fits or drinking problems. Other people with NAFLD may have a rare inherited eye disease, making them extra lean, which makes them more susceptible to cardiovascular problems. If you have NAFLD and you develop any of these symptoms, stop using rosuvastatin and get medical help right away:
It is important to mention that CRESTOR is not a very good treatment for NAFLD because it does not completely eliminate the benefits of cholesterol-lowering medication such as rosuvastatin.
Some people with NAFLD may need different medications, like rosuvastatin, to prevent heart attacks or strokes.
Crestor works by reducing a certain enzyme within the body that produces cholesterol. It belongs to a class of medications called statins.
